Somni-451 Stage 2
Here is stage two in the final design for character Somni 45-1 ... as you can see i have blocked in all the colours except for those in the belt and collar, and have developed the skin tones to a near final stage. From here i will tidy up the helmet, jacket, dress and shoes and overlay some textures.

The beholding eye
Been teaching myself alot of techniques, so i thought i'd give this a try.
It was originally a more realistic skin colour, but after experimenting with a few adjustment filters I decided this colour gave a slightly eerie feel.
References - a mirror and an eye picture from google.
and some of my own custom texture brushes used aswell

Soldier Character Concept: Tonal Speed Sketch
This quick half hour sketch lays out the values i will use for the finished piece. As hes in a desert environment, the background and sky is obviously very bright, and he ofcourse will draw contrast against that. The purpose of this is just to put some of the thoughts and images in my head down on screen to make the process a little easier, as this will be the first project ive attempted with the pen tablet/digital software.
The tonal values in this piece will hopefully help convey a sombre mood, which will match the story behind this character.
Keep eyes pealed for more sketches/the final piece !!
So I decided to try out my new dip pen
Relatively quick character concept for a personal project me and a friend are working on.
I only really did this so i had something to colour in with my amazing new graphics tablet and recently acquired photoshop.. but it gave me the chance to try out a dip pen I got for my 21st as well.. Really enjoyed using it, don't know why i've avoided getting one for so long!
Anyway.. this chaps a kind of post-apocalyptic take on a bedouin.. in the not so distant future he and his fellow nomadic peoples would be found travelling around the badlands of the middle east culling mutants and ambushing enemies with thanks to their in-depth knowledge of the landscape, with technology not too different to that found in these areas today.. except for one difference, due to excessive levels of radiation from a cataclysmic nuclear event (that will be explained in more detail in the future) : they have to wear gas masks

Ajax's Final Soliloquy
This is a piece submitted for a college project on 'Ajax' by Sophocles it would be part of a double page spread in a feature-magazine for the London Times on 'The 100 Greatest Plays'
I had been looking at alot of Albrecht Durer and other renaissance engraver's work and tried to incorporate that into my own style for this image, using technical pens and photoshop to colour.
This is one of three colour variations, the others will follow...
